Gougane Barra Hotel, Co. Cork

Gougane Barra Hotel is fifth generation family run hotel on the edge of Gougane Barra Lake run by Neil And Katy Lucey. Day 1: Cliffs of Moher & Oysters

Start your tour in Dublin and travel to Clare, on the Wild Atlantic Way.

  • Meet your VagaGuide tour guide and board your Vagatron 4x4 tour vehicle at the Grand Canal Hotel, Dublin (8.10am).
  • Pull up a stool, pour yourself a glass and get shucking... Gerry is your guide for a fun oyster-shucking session on the spectacular Flaggy Shore.
  • The seafood couldn’t be fresher at Linnane’s Lobster Bar. From boat dock to kitchen is barely 100 yards.
  • The Burren National Park’s lunar limestone landscape is bewitchingly beautiful. Ranks of dry stone walls merge with monumental dolmens. Alpine and arctic flora grow in unison.
  • Hold onto your hat! It’s the world famous Cliffs of Moher. Of course we’re doing things the Vagabond way, with an awe-inspiring, coast-hugging hike.
  • Dining tonight is at the cliffside ​Armada Hotel in Spanish Point​. Make sure you try local delicacies such as Burren Smokehouse salmon and St Tola’s goat’s cheese.
  • Your accommodation tonight is at the family-owned ​Spanish Point House​.
