Is Ireland A Safe Place To Go?

Ireland is a welcoming place to visit. Irish people are renowned for friendliness.

Irish society is socially progressive, inclusive and peaceful. In the 2026 Global Peace Index, Ireland ranked 5th out of 163 countries, placing it among the safest and most peaceful countries in the world. Ireland’s high ranking reflects what many visitors experience first-hand: a relaxed, friendly country where people look out for one another.

Safe & Friendly

Irish culture is famously friendly and welcoming to visitors.

As a society, Ireland is strongly protective of both women's rights and the rights of LGBTQ+ communities. We were the first country in the world to democratically enact equal marriage laws.

Expect to meet a diverse range of guests on our small-group tours — including solo female travellers, people of all nationalities, LGBTQ+ couples and families.

Of course, like anywhere, visitors should take normal precautions, especially in busy tourist areas where petty theft can happen. But overall, Ireland is widely recognised as a safe and welcoming destination. The U.S. Department of State currently gives Ireland its lowest travel advisory level: Level 1 — Exercise Normal Precautions, describing Ireland as “a safe destination for travelers.”

Don't Take Our Word For It...

Small-Group = Max Friendliness

On our tours, small group sizes mean there's a great chance for you to connect with your tour guide and fellow travellers.

Even better, you’ll be visiting smaller, rural communities where the pace of life is slower.

You may notice people greeting you unexpectedly from passing cars; strangers will stop to chat or ask where you are from.

This level of friendliness is normal and expected in small Irish villages and rural communities.

Take one of our small group tours for a hassle-free way to explore Ireland and meet future friends.
