Can I Travel To Ireland If My Passport Expires Soon?

Passport validity requirements for Ireland depend on your citizenship and whether a visa is required.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: There is NO requirement for US, Canadian, Australian or Aotearoa/New Zealand citizens visiting Ireland for tourism to have 6 months validity on their passports.

If you're an American citizen visiting the Republic of Ireland/Northern Ireland for any form of tourism your passport must be valid for the duration of your stay.

US citizens can stay in the Republic of Ireland for 3 months and Northern Ireland for up to 6 months without a visa, as long as the purpose of your visit is tourism and non-work related.

🍁 Travellers From Canada

If you're a Canadian citizen visiting the Republic of Ireland/Northern Ireland for the purpose of tourism, your passport must be valid for the duration of your stay.

Canadian citizens can stay in the Republic of Ireland for 3 months and Northern Ireland for up to 6 months without a visa, as long as the purpose of your visit is tourism and non-work related.

🥐 Travellers From The EU/EEA & Switzerland

EU/EEA/Swiss citizens do not require passports or visas to travel in the Republic of Ireland.
