Gougane Barra Hotel

Gougane Barra Hotel is a perennial favourite among our Vagabonds and Driftwooders.

Visiting Gougane means experiencing pure tranquility. Nestled away in the mountains of southwestern Ireland, this remote lake valley is the source of the River Lee.

Early Christian Saint Finnbar chose this spectacular location for the site of his church. On the same, narrow isthmus in the center of the lake today lies a beautiful chapel. Walk inside. Whether you're religious or not, there is a tangible aura of peace to be felt in this place.

Expect a warm welcome on arrival. Hotelier Neil tries to greet every guest in person. This is an Irish-speaking Gaeltacht area after all!

Neil's wife, Katy, is the master chef behind Gougane's famous food. Feast on a delicious dishes with locally-sourced ingredients: fish from Unionhall; Gubbeen cheese and cured meats; beer from Ballyvourney; mozzarella from Macroom. The list goes on!

Beech Hill Country House

Georgian elegance meets gracious country living at Beech Hill, just outside the city of Derry in Northern Ireland.

Abbeyglen Castle Hotel

Vying for the title of Ireland's quirkiest castle is Abbeyglen. You'll be welcomed on arrival by Gilbert, the resident Duty Manager (Gilbert also just happens to be a parrot!).

Chink glassesampagne, while the crackling open fires in reception makes the guests feel instantly at home. Its restaurant was awarded two Rosettes from the AA for its gourmet food and fine wines. We should also mention that Abbey Glen is situated near the Connemara National Park, which is truly a stunning part of Ireland.

Mount Falcon

Situated in beautiful Ballina, on the banks of the river Moy, lies one of our most characterful hotels.
