Are the tours suitable for people with mobility issues?

Border

Our mini coaches are not wheelchair accessible. In order to enjoy our tours, you must be able to get on and off our tour vehicles unaided; or have someone come along on tour to help you.

A lightweight foldable wheelchair can sometimes be stowed in the luggage compartment. Our tours are not suitable for larger wheelchairs or mobility scooters.

Are the days of departure set?

Border

Yes. One of the only non-flexible things about our tours are the departure days.

All of our tours depart from Dublin's Grand Canal Hotel on either Sundays, Mondays or Tuesdays.

Are the departure dates guaranteed?

Border

Yes. Once we have two people booked on a tour, it is a 100% guaranteed departure... And that’s a promise!

We had never cancelled a tour pre-pandemic. And we are proud that no Vagabond or Driftwood tour has ever been called off due to low bookings.

We are very aware that you have probably gone to great lengths to get to Ireland; organising time off work; buying flights; booking hotels. So we always run our tours once guests have booked. It's only fair!

Please bear in mind that this does mean that, every now and then, we do run tours with only two guests.

What are the minimum and maximum group sizes for the tours?

Border

The minimum number for our tours is two people.

In normal times your departure is 100% guaranteed once you've booked your tour (as long as there is one other person booked). Prior to the pandemic we had never ever cancelled a tour.

The maximum group size is 13 for active Vagabond Tours.

The maximum group size is 15 for relaxed Driftwood Tours.

  • A reduced deposit of €100 per person secures your place on any tour.

  • No upfront cost to hold your tour place for 7 days while you make your decision.
  • Final payment is not required until 30 days prior to your departure date.
  • Tour Balance payments can be made in bitesize chunks to help spread the cost.
  • Should it not be possible to travel due to travel restrictions in Ireland, or in your Country due to COVID-19, deferment to a later travel date or our new Flexible Gift Card will be offered in lieu of a refund. Full refunds may be available upon request.
  • If, due to COVID travel restrictions we are forced to cancel your tour, Vagabond will offer alternative travel arrangements or a flexible gift card to all clients booked onto the tour or a full refund of the tour price. In these circumstances, no incidental or consequential expenses will be paid by Vagabond
  • All other reasons for cancellation by a client will be subject to our regular terms and conditions listed here.

For latest updates regarding the Covid-19/Coronavirus please see our blog post here.

Cancellation Terms and Conditions

3.1 Cancellation of a client’s booking must be notified in writing to Vagabond. Cancellation charges are calculated on the day when written notification is received by Vagabond. The table below shows the number of days before departure dates that Vagabond receives written confirmation of cancellation, including any surcharges that will be imposed on the client as a corresponding cancellation charge. Please note that in addition to the tour fare cancellation charges set out below, the client may also incur cancellation fees in respect of any third party suppliers booked by the client in association with a Vagabond Tour.

We have enacted the following temporary changes to our cancellation policy in light of the Covid-19/Coronavirus situation:

Notification Period Normal Terms
30+ Days

Deposit is non refundable (can be deferred to another tour).

Full refund (excl. deposit)

30 Days or Less

Deposit is non-refundable (cannot be deferred to another tour).

No refund.

3.2 Once the tour has started, no refunds will be made under any circumstances for any unused sectors or sections.

3.3 If the reason for the client’s cancellation is covered by the client’s insurance policy, the client may be able to make a claim under that policy, this is entirely a matter between the client and their insurer.

3.4 If the client wishes to change to an alternative departure date, this must be done with a minimum of 30 days notice. Any charges or non-refundable deposits which have been paid to third party suppliers are payable by the client in these circumstances.

Check our full terms and conditions.

Are children allowed in pubs in Ireland?

Border

Yes, when accompanied by their parent/guardian. In general, your kids can stay in an Irish pub until 9pm.

Children (anyone under the age of 18) are only allowed in licensed premises if they are with a parent or guardian. This provision carries certain restrictions. For example, if accompanied by a parent/guardian, the child may remain on the premises from 10:30am – 9pm in the months of October to April (until 10pm May to September). The pub licence holder has the right to contravene this if he/she sees fit.
