Why You'll Love Ballyseede Castle Hotel

While designing our 7 Day Driftwood Irish Castles and Kingdoms Tour, we were looking for an atmospheric Irish castle hotel, located close to the Ring of Kerry, that offered great food.

There was only one candidate...

Exterior of Ballyseede Castle Hotel in Ireland

Ballyseede Castle Hotel is steeped in old world elegance. With a history that dates back centuries, you'll feel like royalty as you step through the ornate entrance hall.

Live Like Lords & Ladies!

Sink into a leather armchair in Pappy's Bar, in front of a roaring fire as you soak up the hotel's history. Back in the late 16th century, the rebellious Fitzgerald clan used a fortress on this site to fight against British rule.

There's plenty of space to unwind; 30 acres of ancient woodlands and beautifully landscaped gardens. You'll want to say hello to the friendly resident Irish wolfhound, Mr Higgins, too.

Ballyseede's reputation for fine dining is well-earned.

Tuck into fantastic locally sourced food in the O'Connell Restaurant or in the elegant Orangery.

Prawn and bacon salad in a bowl

Menu highlights include slow-braised shank of Kerry lamb, a local delicacy.

Alternatively, savour the pan-fried fillet of local beef with truffle-dressed watercress, or the meat trio: Clonakilty black pudding, chicken liver pat & braised pork belly served with a chilli jam & apple chutney.

Fish and chips

Seafood fan? Try the tiger prawn & Dingle Bay crab cocktail. Or go traditional with the fresher-than-fresh fish and chips.
